Households can save up to 90% off their
power bill
Labor’s Cheaper Home Batteries mean a household with existing rooftop solar would be set to save up to
$1100 extra off their power bill every year – up to $2300 a year for those with new solar
Who can benefit?
– Households
– Small businesses
– Community facilities
– Larger systems (up to 100 kWh) are eligible, with support provided for the first 50 kWh of usable battery capacity.
How will it work?
– The program will use the same Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme that has safely and successfully supported
rooftop solar.
– No added cost to other electricity users – the government covers all expenses.
– Everyone benefits through lower electricity bills.
What’s the long-term plan?
– The discount will gradually reduce over the next five years, ending in 2030, in line with falling battery prices.
– Designed to drive faster uptake while ensuring long-term value – just like rooftop solar incentives.
